The comic series Deep Dark Fears is a collection of illustrations about people’s anxieties. Animator, and cartoonist Fran Krause brought these fears to life in a book, inspired by his popular web comic and based on real fears submitted by online readers.

The good thing about this comic series is that you will probably find that you’re not the only one with crazy irrational fears, but it may also remind you of fears you forgot you had, while you may discover many more fears to be afraid of. Creepy, eh?

It’s Friday!

An episode from Shaun The Sheep, where the sheep set up a disco in the barn. I just love the sense of humor!

The N.Y. Public Library collection available for download

On January 2016, The New York Public Library made over 187.000 digital items in the public domain, available for high resolution download. Great collection of photographs, old menus, maps, prints, engravings, postcards, music sheets, lithographs, letters, documents, drawings, watercolors etc, from as early as 11th century until more recent years.

But what is amazing is the visualization tool, that groups ALL these images chronologically, or by genre, collection or even color.

Flyte lamp

Flyte is the most magical product I have come across in a long time. It’s a levitating light which hovers by magnetic levitation and is powered through the air. It looks like real magic (but it’s actually induction technology – whatever that is…)!

The Present

This short animation is so good and it’s no surprise it has won more than 50 awards.

I hadn’t realized Jacob Frey is the same director, who did Bob a few years back, a very funny animation about a hamster, that my kids loved watching again and again. We will probably see more of him, since “The Present” was only his thesis for Film Academy in Germany and since then he has gone to work for Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Based on a comic strip by Fabio Coala.

So you want to have kids…

Although the article is addressed to people who are considering to start a family (and I am way past that stage), I found this quote very powerful:

“Don’t merely be present with your kids, don’t just “cherish” it (whatever that really means), actively observe and participate because at some point it’ll be the last time they crawl, the last time you give them a bath, the last time they hold your hand.“

Some big truths, but also a very funny read. Read the whole article here: “So you want to have kids…  A one-sided story of what to be prepared for in parenthood”
